Sri Ganganagar |A meeting of the District Road Safety Committee was held on Thursday at the Collectorate conference hall under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Manju. The meeting focused on measures to prevent road accidents, strengthen traffic management, and enhance the effectiveness of road safety awareness activities.
The District Collector stated that ensuring road safety is among the top priorities of the State Government. She conducted a detailed review of the compliance of instructions issued in previous road safety meetings. Directing the Mandi Secretary regarding the installation of reflectors on tractor-trolleys, she emphasized that the task should be taken seriously and completed at the earliest.
Concerned officials were instructed to identify accident-prone areas (black spots) and complete necessary corrective measures promptly. Directions were also issued for installing road signage, reflectors, and warning boards. To prevent accidents caused by stray animals and dogs, officials were directed to ensure effective preventive action.
The District Collector sought reports on speed breakers installed in front of government and private schools and colleges. She further instructed the Education Department and Transport Department to conduct joint inspections to ensure strict compliance with traffic rules related to school buses and child transport vehicles. Necessary directions were also given for the beautification of major city intersections.
Reviewing the progress of eye check-up camps organized for heavy vehicle drivers, the District Transport Officer was directed to organize more such camps and provide special training to drivers. From a road safety perspective, pending cases related to accidents and fatalities under IRAD in the e-DAR app were reviewed, and officials were instructed to ensure early disposal of all pending matters.
The District Collector also directed officials to ensure maximum public awareness of the Chief Minister Ayushman Scheme, stating that extensive publicity should be carried out in both government and private institutions so that every eligible person can benefit from the scheme.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Dr. Amrita Duhan, Additional District Collector (Vigilance) Mrs. Reena, Ashok Aseja, Bhimsen Swami, Devanand, Mangat Setia, Mukesh Mehta, RIICO RM M.C. Meena, officials from NHAI, and other concerned officers.
