Awareness Rally and Workshop Against Drug Abuse Organized at Mahatma Gandhi School

Sri Ganganagar: Under the **Drug-Free Sri Ganganagar Campaign**, led by **District Collector Dr. Manju** and **Superintendent of Police Dr. Amrita Duhan**, an impactful **awareness rally and motivational workshop** was organized at the campus of **Mahatma Gandhi School**, located at Indira Chowk, to combat the growing menace of drug abuse.

During the programme, addressing students and teachers, **Mr. Vikram Jyani**, Co-Incharge of the Drug-Free Sri Ganganagar Campaign from the **Department of Social Justice and Empowerment**, stated that addiction today is deceiving youth by disguising itself as pleasure. He pointed out that while most people are aware that drug use is harmful and often discuss its adverse effects, hesitation arises when it comes to making firm decisions. He emphasized that awareness is not merely about sharing information, but about **building the courage to make strong and responsible choices**.

Students were explained that addiction not only damages the body but also **hollows out dreams**, gradually destroying family happiness, parents’ expectations, and one’s self-respect. Saying *no* to drugs, he said, is not an insult to anyone but the **greatest respect one can give to one’s own life**.

Following the workshop, **Drug-Free Protection Shield badges** were distributed, and all students took a pledge to stay away from drugs and to spread awareness among people around them. During the rally, students raised slogans such as **“Choose Life, Not Drugs,”** conveying the message that **society changes only when individuals change**.

On the occasion, **Police Constable Mr. Praveen Kumar** also sensitized the youth about **cyber safety and traffic rules**, adding further value to the awareness programme.
