Northern Railway Conducts Nighttime Safety Inspections: 618 Inspections Carried Out Last Month

Sriganganagar: In a continuous effort to enhance safety and operational efficiency, senior officials of **Northern Railway** conducted nighttime inspections of major stations, tracks, yards, and operational installations across various divisions. These inspections are carried out **randomly between 12:00 AM and 4:00 AM**, with the primary objective of making rail travel safer. During these inspections, officials also motivate railway staff to maintain high alertness and diligence, further strengthening overall rail security.

**Mr. Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay**, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, reported that in **December**, a total of **618 nighttime inspections** were conducted across different divisions. The breakdown is as follows: **48** in the Headquarters, **93** in Delhi Division, **131** in Lucknow Division, **190** in Firozpur Division, **23** in Jammu Division, and **131** in Moradabad Division.

These inspections were conducted under Northern Railway’s **safety campaign** to ensure secure railway operations. The inspections covered critical aspects such as: rail operations, signaling systems, track infrastructure, level crossings, yard management, and adherence to staff safety protocols. Special attention was given to compliance with operational manuals, preparedness during foggy conditions, and proper functioning of safety equipment.

During the inspections, officials reviewed **handover and takeover procedures**, the condition of **points and crossings**, the functioning of **signaling and interlocking systems**, record maintenance, and compliance with safety instructions. Officers also provided **important suggestions** to improve rail operations.
