Budget 2026: From Infrastructure to Irrigation, a Comprehensive Development Vision for Sri Ganganagar

Sri Ganganagar: Under the leadership of Honorable Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the Rajasthan government has taken significant and forward-looking steps in the 2026 budget to promote all-round development across the state. The border district of Sri Ganganagar, which holds strategic importance in agriculture, irrigation, and national security, will witness balanced growth across roads, railways, irrigation, energy, agricultural marketing, animal husbandry, and sports.
To strengthen railway infrastructure, an RUB (Road Under Bridge) will be constructed on LC-94, Bathinda-Suratgarh section (141/6.7 km) at a cost of ₹9.31 crore, while an ROB (Road Over Bridge) is proposed on LC-1A, Suratgarh-Anupgarh section at ₹97.56 crore. Additionally, RUB work on LC-112B, Sadulshahar-Karanpur (SH-7B), is also included. These projects aim to enhance both traffic flow and safety.
Promoting cultural and social activities, a modern auditorium will be built near the old sugar mill at a cost of ₹5 crore, providing a platform for art, literature, and community events at the local level.
In this agriculture-dominated district, strengthening irrigation remains a top priority. The Sardul branch of the Bhakra canal system will be realigned at a cost of ₹225 crore, and the Karni branch will undergo repairs for ₹80 crore, improving water conservation and distribution. The Ganganahar project will see the LNP distributary realigned at ₹50 crore and the Hiranawali distributary at ₹6 crore. Construction of irrigation channels in the Karanpur area is planned at ₹5 crore, while the Kanwarasan Lift Canal will receive ₹14 crore for design and construction to ensure uninterrupted pumping. These measures will ensure timely and adequate water supply to farmers.
Significant initiatives have also been announced in the energy sector. A 132 KV GSS will be established at Lalgadh Jatan, and a 33/11 KV GSS at Bilochia Raisingh Nagar, strengthening power supply to rural and agricultural areas.
To enhance agricultural marketing, a new agricultural produce grain market will be developed at Rajiyasar station, offering farmers better prices and improved marketing facilities.
In animal husbandry, a veterinary sub-center will be opened at 17 MD Gharsana, and the sub-center at Vijaynagar will be upgraded to a full-fledged veterinary hospital, improving livestock health services and supporting the rural economy.
In sports, the Handball Academy at Lalgadh Jatan will be reopened, providing training and opportunities for rural talent.
These proposed initiatives in Sri Ganganagar represent key building blocks for a self-reliant and prosperous Rajasthan, fostering growth across infrastructure, agriculture, energy, and social development.
