Sri Ganganagar: A workshop was organized at the District Collectorate Auditorium on Tuesday to disseminate the findings of the Heliborne Geophysical Survey and Groundwater Data and to discuss the SEM (Saline Water Encroachment/Soil Erosion Management) issue. The event was chaired by District Collector Dr. Manju and was conducted under the guidance of the Central Ground Water Board, Western Region, Jaipur, to support water resource management and planning in the district.
During the workshop, the Heliborne Geophysical Survey reports prepared for the nine blocks of Sri Ganganagar district were officially released by District Collector Dr. Manju, District Superintendent of Police Mr. Harishankar, ADM Administration Mr. Subhash Kumar, and SDM Gangangar Mr. Nayan Gautam.
Key participants included Dr. K.P. Singh, Scientist ‘D’, Central Ground Water Board, Western Region, Jaipur, Dheeraj Chawla, Executive Engineer, Water Resources Department, Mangat Setia, Executive Engineer, Municipal Council, Surjeet Kumar, Joint Director, Agriculture Department, Barkat Ali, In-Charge Groundwater Scientist, Groundwater Department, Prabha Bansal, District Chemist, Public Health & Engineering Department, Amit Narayan, Technical Assistant, Groundwater Department, and Sumit Kumar, among others.
During the session, ADM Subhash Kumar explained that Dr. K.P. Singh provided a detailed presentation based on data obtained from the Heliborne Geophysical Survey. The presentation highlighted the survey’s usefulness, including identification of groundwater potential drilling sites and management aquifer recharge sites across the district.
The workshop also included a detailed discussion with representatives from various departments regarding the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the DPR being prepared to address the SEM problem in the district.
District Collector Dr. Manju praised the study conducted by the Central Ground Water Board and emphasized that data-driven planning is essential for future water management strategies.
