Kota: Under the leadership of Sharad Kumar Kharetia, President of the Saras Dairy Booth Development Committee, members of dairy booths submitted a memorandum to the ADM City, protesting against the administration’s oppressive policies.
The delegation demanded that the administration stop implementing such repressive measures. The memorandum stated that the members operate Saras Dairy booths throughout Kota city, which is their sole source of livelihood and the only means to support their families.
Most Saras booth operators belong to the low-income, small trader category, earning a modest income solely by selling milk and dairy products. Currently, the profit from milk supplied by Kota Saras Dairy is only ₹2 per kilogram. After including monthly booth rent of ₹1,239 and electricity bills, the total monthly expenditure of a booth operator comes to approximately ₹4,000–5,000. After deducting these costs, providing for children and family has become extremely challenging.
The situation has worsened to the point that most booth operators are struggling with business loans and other financial difficulties, creating severe hardships for them and their families.
