Kota: Serious allegations have been raised against newly appointed Assistant Sub-Inspector Ravindra Yadav of Bhim Ganjmandi Police Station, accusing him of misusing authority and targeting poor tea vendors in the area.
According to reports, ASI Ravindra Yadav has allegedly been taking strict action primarily against small roadside tea vendors who depend on their stalls for livelihood, while larger establishments operating throughout the night are reportedly left unchecked. Critics argue that wearing the police uniform is meant to ensure justice, not to intimidate or harass economically weaker sections.
It is claimed that this pattern has been continuing for the past 15–20 days. These vendors, who run small tea stalls late at night or early morning to support their families, have reportedly been facing repeated कार्रवाई (action). Questions have been raised about why vendors opening stalls at around 3:30 AM are being penalized, while several permanent tea shops operating all night are not subjected to similar enforcement.
As per information received, on a recent Sunday around 3:30 AM, ASI Yadav allegedly confiscated cooking gas cylinders from tea vendors including Pawan, Dilip, Jaynarayan, and Mahavir. Later, Jaynarayan’s cylinder was reportedly returned following intervention, while the others remain at the police station.
In another incident the same night, at Ram Mandir Road, it is alleged that ASI Yadav visited Radhe Madhu Dairy, which operates throughout the night, and had tea there. Meanwhile, a nearby poor tea vendor, Deepu Sharma, claims that his wood-fired stove was extinguished by pouring water on it, and his prepared food was spoiled, forcing him to shut down his stall.
Some allegations suggest that such actions may have been taken to benefit certain establishments, though this remains unverified. Critics argue that if rules are being enforced, they should apply equally to all businesses operating during prohibited hours.
It is also notable that on March 31, ASI Yadav reportedly detained tea vendors including Pawan, Ghanshyam Soni, and Jaynarayan under Section 151, allegedly for running their stalls.
Several other tea shops in the area—such as those on Ram Mandir Road, Masjid Gali, and Hat Road—are said to remain open throughout the night, raising further questions about selective enforcement.
Tea vendor Deepu Sharma has also alleged that on March 20, his gas cylinder was taken to the police station and that he was mistreated when he went to retrieve it. He further claimed that ASI Yadav told him to file a complaint with Kota City SP Tejaswini Gautam if he wished.
In light of these allegations, there is a growing demand for a fair and impartial inquiry. It is expected that SP Tejaswini Gautam will ensure a proper investigation so that no misuse of authority occurs and that law enforcement remains just and equal for all.
