Udaipur/Jaipur, Senior Congress leader, former minister, and ex-Rajya Sabha MP Ashk Ali Tank passed away late in the evening at the age of 67. Tank had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Jaipur and breathed his last during the course of treatment.
His mortal remains have been brought to his ancestral residence, and the final rites will be performed at Vidyadhar Nagar Cemetery at 11:00 AM on October 6. Following his demise, senior Congress leaders have expressed deep grief.
Ashok Gehlot Expresses Condolences
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed his sorrow, stating that the news of the demise of Ashk Ali Tank is deeply saddening. Tank had a long and distinguished political career, having served as NSUI and Youth Congress President and as Chairman of the Minority Commission. He was particularly popular among the youth.
Gehlot said, “During his tenure, he undertook extensive tours across the state, strengthening the organization. Very few leaders manage such dedication. Whenever the party entrusted him with responsibility, he executed it with excellence. His passing is a personal loss to me. Despite health challenges, he remained actively involved in all party programs. I pray that Allah grants him a high place in Jannah and gives strength to his family to bear this loss.”
Govind Singh Dotasra Also Mourns
PCC Chief Govind Singh Dotasra also expressed deep grief over Tank’s demise, saying that Tank had dedicated his entire life to the Congress Party. From his youth, he had been actively involved in party work. Even during illness, he participated in party activities. Tank’s passing is not only a loss to the party but also a personal loss to many.
