Jaipur:Veteran journalist and long-time advocate for the recognition of the Rajasthani language, Padam Mehta, Editor-in-Chief of Dainik Jalte Deep and the state’s only Rajasthani language magazine Manak, called on Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani at the Assembly premises on Tuesday.

Mehta honoured the Speaker with a traditional shawl, garland, and a special edition of Manak magazine, appreciating his innovative initiatives in the Assembly and his significant contribution to the promotion of the Sindhi language.

During the meeting, Mehta appealed to Devnani to extend his support in ensuring that the Rajasthani language is incorporated into the school curriculum under the New Education Policy (NEP) and officially recognized as the state language of Rajasthan.

He recalled the impactful reforms introduced by Devnani during his tenure as Education Minister and highlighted his leadership in various national and international platforms, including the World Sindhi Conference, for the advancement of Sindhi culture and language. Mehta expressed hope that the Speaker would play a similarly meaningful role in strengthening the status of the Rajasthani language.

Mehta also referred to the unanimously passed resolution of the Rajasthan Assembly, which recognizes all regional dialects spoken across the state as integral components of the broader Rajasthani language. In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of providing primary education in children’s mother tongues, he stressed the urgency of implementing this on the ground in Rajasthan.

Dainik Jalte Deep Managing Editor Deepak Mehta, Delhi News Bureau Chief G. N. Bhatt, and Jodhpur-based Special Correspondent and NRI Coordinator Vinod Sharma were also present during the meeting.
