Udaipur: Under the Panch Gaurav initiative launched by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the District-Level Panch Gaurav Fair and Exhibition began on Thursday at the promenade of Fateh Sagar Lake. The event is being organized under the direction of Udaipur District Collector Namit Mehta. The fair aims to highlight the district’s unique identity, natural resources, and cultural heritage, and will continue until March 7. It showcases information and products related to the district’s “Panch Gaurav” (Five Pride Themes) while also hosting cultural and youth-oriented activities.

The fair was inaugurated on Thursday evening by Namit Mehta, who also serves as Chairman of the Panch Gaurav Program Implementation Committee, by cutting the ribbon. Additional District Collector (City) Jitendra Ojha and Avula Sai Krishna, SDM of Girwa, were present as special guests. At the beginning of the event, Puneet Sharma, Member Secretary of the Panch Gaurav Committee, welcomed the guests.

During the event, the District Collector carefully inspected the exhibition stalls and provided necessary guidelines. The fair highlights key district themes including:

The Horticulture Department has set up stalls showcasing products made from Sitaphal, while the Forest Department and Rajasthan Grameen Aajeevika Vikas Parishad (Rajeevika) are displaying information about Mahua-based products. The Tourism Department has exhibited information and promotional material about major tourist attractions of the district, including Fateh Sagar and Pichola Lake.

Through the District Industries Centre, five stalls under Stone Mart have been set up to display various varieties of marble and granite found in the district along with their finished products. The Sports Department shared information about the sport of swimming, while the Education Department displayed artworks created by winners of competitions organized through the Panch Gaurav Literacy Club.

The program was attended by several officials and dignitaries including Mukesh Saini (Deputy Conservator of Forests), Shailendra Sharma (General Manager, District Industries Centre), Kailash Chandra Sharma (Deputy Director, Horticulture), Sunita Saroch (Joint Director, Tourism), Shikha Saxena (Deputy Director), Dr. Mahesh Paliwal (District Sports Officer), and Hitesh Patel from the Marble Association, along with other officials, staff, and members of the public.

Puppet Shows Explain the Significance of Panch Gaurav
At the fair venue, folk artists used traditional puppet performances to creatively explain the importance of the district’s Panch Gaurav themes. These entertaining presentations were highly appreciated by the guests and visitors.

Kayaking Demonstration at Fateh Sagar
The Sports Department also organized a kayaking demonstration at the venue. National and international level athletes showcased their skills in kayaking and canoeing in Fateh Sagar Lake under the guidance of Tanishq Patwa. District Collector Namit Mehta observed the activity from a rescue boat.

Other Attractions at the Fair
A food court has also been set up at the Panch Gaurav Fair where visitors can enjoy local delicacies. Additionally, a selfie point has been created, allowing visitors to capture memories of the fair along with the scenic beauty of the world-famous Fateh Sagar Lake.
