Udaipur : A district-level World Environment Day celebration was organized at Kalka Mata Nursery on Sisarma Road under the Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign. The event was jointly organized by the District Administration, Forest Department, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, and Green People Society.

Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, Dr. Mannalal Rawat, Member of Parliament, emphasized that water and environmental conservation cannot be achieved through government schemes alone but require active public participation and collective efforts. He urged young people to make nature conservation an integral part of their lifestyle.

Other distinguished guests present on the dais included Udaipur City MLA Tarachand Jain, Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena, District Collector Gaurav Agrawal, Vice-Chancellor of Mohanlal Sukhadia University Prof. Kailash Daga, Chief Conservator of Forests Seduram Yadav, social worker Gajpal Singh, and Green People Society President Rahul Bhatnagar. The speakers highlighted the importance of public involvement in water conservation, tree plantation, and maintaining ecological balance.

Earlier, Deputy Conservator of Forests Mukesh Saini, Ajay Chittauda, Yadvendra Singh Chundawat, Assistant Conservator of Forests Surekha Chaudhary, and other officials welcomed the guests.

Connecting with Nature Through Trekking and Bird Watching

The program commenced at 6:00 a.m. with activities at the Jungle Safari Park, where university students participated in trekking, bird watching, and a nursery visit. The students gained valuable insights into biodiversity and the conservation of natural resources. Their enthusiasm and active participation were highly appreciated.

Green Message Through Cap and Seed Distribution

To spread awareness about the Vande Ganga campaign, the Forest Department distributed special caps among participants. Green People Society distributed seeds of five tree species, including Amaltas, Karanj, Kachnar, Drumstick (Moringa), and Custard Apple, encouraging participants to undertake large-scale plantation drives.

Following the formal ceremony, guests planted saplings of sandalwood, mahua, custard apple, and several other species within the nursery premises and pledged to ensure their protection and care. Participants also took an oath to actively contribute to environmental conservation.

The entire event was centered on the theme of the Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign. Speakers emphasized the need for protecting water sources, promoting rainwater harvesting, and ensuring the responsible use of natural resources.

Youth Share Ideas During Talk Show

A talk show held during the concluding session witnessed active participation from university students, Green People Society members, and Forest Department representatives. Discussions focused on environmental conservation, climate change, and sustainable development.

Participants were also introduced to the carbon credit system associated with the renowned Piplantri Model, which links environmental conservation with economic benefits. The concept of “Save Trees, Earn Money” was discussed, highlighting how environmental protection can be integrated with livelihood generation and sustainable economic development.

The event successfully combined awareness, education, and action, reinforcing the message that environmental conservation is a shared responsibility requiring collective commitment from all sections of society.
