The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell of Sir Padampat Singhania University (SPSU), Udaipur successfully organized a one-day Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and KAPILA Scheme Awareness on July 29, 2026.


The programme aimed to create awareness among faculty members, researchers, students, innovators, and entrepreneurs about the importance of Intellectual Property Rights, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, design protection, technology transfer, and commercialization of innovations. The workshop also highlighted the Government of India's KAPILA Scheme and its role in promoting innovation, patent filing, and technology commercialization.

The workshop commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a welcome address. In his inaugural address,  President, Dr. Sanjay Sinha, FRSA, emphasized the importance of intellectual property rights in fostering innovation, research excellence, and entrepreneurship. Prof. (Dr.) Prasun Chakrabarti, Pro President and Prof. Amit Kumar Goel, Dean, School of Engineering and Sciences (SES), highlighted the need to strengthen an innovation-driven research ecosystem. The programme was introduced by Dr. Kamal Kant Hiran, Chairman, IPR Cell.

The technical sessions were delivered by Dr. Jagdish Lohar, Indian Patent Agent, Registered SIPP Facilitator and Dr. Mayank Patel, Professor & Head, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies, Udaipur. They explained about the utility and design patent with real time examples and shared valuable insights on patent filing procedures, intellectual property protection, commercialization of research, technology transfer and opportunities available under the KAPILA Scheme.

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, research scholars, students, and innovators, reinforcing SPSU's commitment to promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and intellectual property awareness. The event was organized by the IPR team members Dr. Poonam Saini, Dr. Chandani Joshi, Dr. Lokesh Gupta and Dr. Brajesh Sharma.
