On Aug 12, 2026, The Department of Sciences, School of Engineering and Sciences, Sir Padampat Singhania University (SPSU), organized a workshop and Pre-Independence Day celebration on the theme “India in the Eyes of Swami Vivekananda: Nation-Building, Personality & Character Development.” Swami Medhajananda Ji, a monk and Coordinator Youth Programmes, Shri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Rajkot, was the revered guest. Hon’ble President Dr. Sanjay Sinha, FRSA, felicitated Swami Medhajananda Ji and highlighted the significance of Swami Vivekananda’s vision of a strong, self-reliant and character-driven India, particularly in inspiring young minds towards responsible citizenship and nation-building. The workshop was organized for two batches of 120 students each, providing students with an opportunity to listen, reflect and interact with Swami Medhajananda Ji. The programme explored how Swami Vivekananda’s vision of strength, self-confidence, education, character and service can inspire students to develop confidence, discipline, leadership and personal excellence. It encouraged students to reflect on the significance of India’s freedom while fostering a deeper understanding of their responsibilities as young citizens and their role in building a progressive, responsible and harmonious society. The organizers expressed their gratitude to the President and Dean of the School of Engineering and Sciences for their encouragement, guidance and support in conducting the programme. The event concluded with a call for students to draw inspiration from Swami Vivekananda’s teachings and contribute towards building a stronger, more responsible and value-driven India.
