KOTA, Rajasthan — A dispute allegedly linked to illegal liquor smuggling in Kota’s Railway Colony area has escalated into a series of violent attacks, with two alleged life-threatening assaults reported within about 15 days.

According to sources, a man identified as Anil was allegedly attacked in the Bhadana area on July 29. A case was subsequently registered at Railway Colony police station against liquor contractor Rinku Bana and his associates.

Anil later approached Kota City Superintendent of Police Tejaswini Gautam, seeking the arrest of the accused. In his complaint, he alleged that more than 15 days had passed since the incident but that no arrests had been made.

In a fresh development, Rinku Bana was allegedly attacked by around six people at about 11 p.m. Monday. He sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a private hospital in Borkhera for treatment.

The back-to-back incidents have raised concerns over alleged illegal liquor activities and the disputes surrounding them in the Railway Colony police station area. Local residents fear that the situation could worsen if authorities do not take timely action against the alleged liquor trade and those involved in related disputes.

Police action in both cases is now under scrutiny, particularly the investigation into the earlier assault and the identification and arrest of those allegedly involved in the attack on Rinku Bana.
