Kota. A reader discussion and pledge ceremony was organized on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day. The programme featured an extensive discussion on mental health, stress management, and the need for community awareness to prevent suicide. On the occasion, Dr. Deepak Kumar Shrivastava highlighted the role of bibliotherapy in promoting mental well-being. He said that carefully selected and purposeful reading can help individuals cope with stress, loneliness, despair, and emotional pressure. He emphasized that libraries are not merely centres for acquiring knowledge but are also important spaces for mental well-being, positive thinking, and social connectedness. He particularly stressed the need to promote books related to mental health awareness, motivational literature, and interactive activities in public libraries. At the conclusion of the programme, the participants took a pledge to contribute to suicide prevention, remain sensitive towards mental-health concerns, and support individuals in need. Programme Coordinator Dr. Prabhat Singhal, Founder Member, HOP Society, Kota, emphasized the importance of sensitivity, communication, and timely support in preventing suicide. Programme Co-coordinator Dr. Shashi Jain stressed the need to increase mental-health awareness in society and to treat individuals in distress with empathy and compassion. On the occasion, Seema Verma, Junior Assistant, administered the pledge to the participants, urging them to remain sensitive towards suicide prevention and mental-health awareness. The participants pledged to listen to people in distress, provide emotional support, and contribute towards creating a positive and supportive environment for mental well-being.
