Udaipur: A special guest lecture on “Duties and Responsibilities of Citizens” was organised by the Department of Anatomy at Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Umarda, Udaipur. The lecture aimed to sensitise students and faculty members about constitutional values, civic duties and the responsibilities of citizens towards society and the nation. Prof. Indra Vardhan Trivedi, former Vice Chancellor of Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, was the keynote speaker. Addressing the students and faculty members, he elaborated on the constitutional and social responsibilities of citizens, their duties towards the nation, the importance of discipline and respect for the law, and the role of every individual in social development. Prof. Trivedi said that a responsible citizen is not only aware of his or her rights but also sincerely fulfils civic duties and social responsibilities. He encouraged the youth to play an active and constructive role in nation-building. The programme was chaired by Dr. Prashant Nahar, President, Sai Tirupati University, who highlighted the importance of understanding and fulfilling civic duties alongside enjoying constitutional rights. He said that a good citizen understands both rights and responsibilities. Adherence to fundamental duties, maintaining the unity and integrity of the nation, promoting fraternity and discipline, and respecting the law are responsibilities shared by every citizen. Dr. Nahar emphasised that young people have an important role in nation-building. He said that cleanliness, environmental protection and safeguarding public property should be regarded as essential civic responsibilities. According to him, honesty, ethics and social sensitivity are fundamental to building a strong society and a developed nation. He urged students and faculty members to practise civic responsibilities in their daily lives and inspire others to do the same. The programme was conducted by Dr. Ganesh Khemnar, Professor and Head, Department of Anatomy. Faculty members of the department, including Dr. Prakash K.G., Dr. Saniya K., Dr. Ritubhi Mehta, Dr. Avniben, Dr. Narendra Saini, Dr. Ram Saini, Dr. Manhit and Dr. Nazima, also played an important role in organising the event. Dr. Suresh Goyal (Principal and Controller), Dr. Dileep Kumar, Dr. Chandra Mathur, Dr. Pranav Kumar, Dr. Jyoti Tomar, Amritlal Sirot, along with faculty members, residents, interns and students of the institute, were present. The programme focused on promoting responsible citizenship, constitutional values and social responsibility among students and the younger generation, encouraging them to contribute positively to society and the nation.
