Udaipur: A pain awareness programme was organised at Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Umarda, with the objective of educating people about different types of pain, their causes and modern treatment options.

Dr. Anil Bhivwal, Pain Physician and Secretary of the Society for Study of Pain, Udaipur, said that pain is an important signal from the body and persistent pain should not be ignored or considered normal. He emphasised that timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment can significantly improve a patient’s quality of life.

He explained that conditions such as back pain, neck pain, nerve pain, joint pain, headaches, cancer-related pain and chronic pain can affect a person’s daily activities, sleep and overall ability to function. In such cases, instead of relying solely on pain medication, it is important to identify the underlying cause and seek appropriate treatment.

Dr. Kamlesh Shekhawat, Head of the Department of Anaesthesia, said that modern pain medicine offers several treatment options depending on the patient’s condition. These include medication as well as interventional pain management techniques such as nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, spinal interventions and PRP therapy.

The programme conveyed the message that “There is no need to live with pain—consult a specialist in time and receive the right treatment.”

Doctors, hospital staff and patients participated in the programme and gained information about pain-related conditions and the latest treatment options available for effective pain management.
