Hotel Associations Discuss Night-Time Operations Notification with Labour Department;

Udaipur: A delegation from the Hotel Institute of Southern Rajasthan and the Hotel Federation of Rajasthan, Udaipur Division, met the Divisional Joint Labour Commissioner, Udaipur, to discuss the State Government’s recently issued notification regarding night-time operations of commercial establishments.

Rakesh Choudhary, Secretary of the Hotel Institute and President of the Hotel Federation, stated that the delegation received detailed clarification on various provisions of the notification issued on June 19, 2026. According to the notification, shops and commercial establishments registered under the Rajasthan Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958, will be permitted to operate during night hours subject to prescribed conditions.

As per the notification, employers must provide employees with paid weekly holidays on a rotational basis. Working hours have been capped at 10 hours per day and 48 hours per week. In cases where employees work beyond the prescribed limits, overtime wages must be paid in accordance with applicable labour laws. Additionally, all employees must be issued formal appointment letters.

The Labour Commissioner also informed the delegation that the exemption is strictly subject to compliance with all conditions laid down in the notification. Any violation of the stipulated provisions will automatically result in the withdrawal of the facility. Establishments seeking to avail themselves of the benefit must register with the Labour Department and ensure full compliance with all prescribed norms.

Expressing gratitude to the Labour Department for its guidance, the delegation said that the decision is expected to provide a significant boost to trade, tourism, and the hospitality sector across Udaipur and Rajasthan. The move is also likely to enhance visitor convenience and create new employment opportunities in the region.

The delegation included K.P. Agrawal, Vice President of the Hotel Institute and Hotel Federation; Rakesh Choudhary, Secretary of the Hotel Institute and President of the Federation; and Ambalal Sahu, Secretary of the Federation and Treasurer of the Institute.
