###Udaipur Set to Offer Liver Transplant and Robotic Heart Surgeries

Udaipur:On the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami, symbolising new beginnings and life, GBH General Hospital, located at Bedwas and operated by the OBH (GBH) Group, has ushered in a new era in healthcare for Udaipur and southern Rajasthan. The hospital has become Rajasthan’s first medical centre to offer liver transplant, robotic and minimally invasive heart surgery, robotic general surgery, robotic orthopaedic surgery and a specialised breast cancer clinic—all within a single campus.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, GBH Group Chairman Dr. Kumar Jain said that for over two decades the Group has consistently worked to bring the latest medical technologies to the region. He highlighted that GBH pioneered several landmark initiatives in Udaipur, including the city’s first tertiary super-speciality hospital, the first PPP-based MRI facility, advanced dialysis centres, LINAC radiation therapy, and world-class precision radiation services. “The introduction of liver transplant and robotic cardiac surgery is another decisive step in bringing metro-level healthcare to Udaipur,” he said.

Liver Transplant Services Now in Udaipur

The hospital has appointed renowned liver transplant surgeon Dr. Saurabh Singhal, trained at AIIMS Delhi and in the United States, who has successfully performed hundreds of liver transplants. Dr. Singhal will now provide his services at GBH General Hospital, with OPD consultations already underway. This facility will offer new hope to patients suffering from liver cirrhosis, liver failure and other advanced liver diseases.

Robotic and Minimally Invasive Heart Surgery

For the first time in Udaipur, robotic and minimally invasive cardiac surgery will be available, eliminating the need for opening the entire chest. Dr. Dhananjay Kumar Bansal, a highly skilled cardiac surgeon trained at leading medical institutions in Delhi and Pune, has joined the hospital to lead these procedures.

A dedicated cardiac wing has been developed, supported by a team of senior interventional cardiologists—Dr. M. K. Kaushik, Dr. Kapil Bhargava, Dr. Danny Manglani, Dr. Sunny Yadav and Dr. Hitesh Yadav—ensuring comprehensive heart care under one roof.

Advanced Robotic General and Orthopaedic Surgery

GBH General Hospital has also installed Udaipur’s first 4-arm robotic system in its main operation theatre, enabling highly precise and minimally invasive general surgeries. The robotic surgery team has been strengthened with the inclusion of Dr. Saurabh Anand, an experienced robotic and general surgeon.

In addition, an orthopaedic robotic system has been commissioned, allowing high-precision joint replacement surgeries, significantly improving surgical accuracy and patient recovery.

Dedicated Breast Cancer Clinic

Coinciding with Basant Panchami, the hospital has also launched a specialised Breast Cancer Clinic for women. Eminent breast cancer surgeon Dr. Garima Mehta will provide expert diagnosis and treatment, offering comprehensive breast care at a single centre.

World-Class Infrastructure and 24×7 Care

To support these advanced procedures, GBH General Hospital has deployed a specialised team of anaesthesiologists, transplant-trained nursing staff and critical care experts, backed by state-of-the-art operation theatres, high-tech ICUs, advanced diagnostic facilities and round-the-clock emergency services. These systems ensure the highest levels of safety and success, particularly for complex liver transplants and cardiac procedures.

Focus on Affordable and Inclusive Healthcare

Group Director Dr. Anand Jha informed that the hospital has initiated the process to include liver transplant and other advanced procedures under various government healthcare schemes, enabling eligible patients to receive treatment free of cost or at subsidised rates. He also emphasised efforts to promote organ donation awareness as a crucial component of sustainable transplant programmes.

A Milestone for Udaipur’s Healthcare Sector

Medical experts and citizens alike have described this development as a major milestone in Udaipur’s healthcare journey. Liver transplantation is a complex, life-saving procedure requiring stringent protocols, expert teams and advanced infrastructure—all of which are now in place at GBH General Hospital.

Present at the press conference were Dean and senior orthopaedic specialist Dr. Vinay Joshi, Director Dr. Surabhi Porwal, Head of General Surgery Dr. Sangeeta Tiwari, and Dr. Garima Mehta, among others.

With the launch of these cutting-edge services, patients in Udaipur and neighbouring regions will no longer need to travel to metro cities—world-class treatment is now available close to home.
