Udaipur: Guru Purnima was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm at Sheetla Mata Park in Prabhat Nagar, Sector-5, where Patanjali Yog Samiti and Bharat Swabhiman Nyas jointly organised a spiritual programme featuring collective yoga practice and a Vedic yajna.
According to Jignesh Sharma, Yoga Acharya and Media Coordinator, the event commenced with a group yoga session. Participants were welcomed with a traditional tilak by Rajkumar Gupta, while Jaymala Vyas, Sulochana Negi, and Mamta Negi created colourful rangoli designs to greet the attendees.
Vedic priest Sarla Gupta conducted the yajna, explaining the scientific significance of Vedic mantras during the ritual. Couples including Durga and Yogesh Jain, Sarita and Anoop Soni, and Shashiprabha and Jamnashankar Parashar offered sacred oblations, joined by other yoga practitioners who prayed for global peace and well-being.
During the programme, Vaidya Shobhalal Audichya highlighted the importance of regular yoga practice, seasonal dietary habits, and explained the preparation and health benefits of Panchamrit and Panjiri.
On the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, senior yoga teacher Mukesh Pathak was felicitated with a traditional shawl and Shriphal (coconut) in recognition of his contribution to yoga and wellness.
Responding to an appeal by District Treasurer Harish Chaudhary and Assistant District Treasurer Arvind Bapna, yoga practitioners also offered Guru Dakshina according to their capacity.
The event was organised under the guidance of Laxmi Sharma and Hansa Chauhan, with active support from members of the local yoga class.
Among those present were District In-charge and Kisan Seva Prabhari Hiral Suthar, Naresh Paliwal, Hiralal Sen, Gulab Singh, Rajesh Chandwani, Rajesh Upadhyay, Ganesh Sahu, Pawan Jain, Prakash Jain, Shyam Sundar, Anita Inani, Meenakshi Panwar, Seema Chashta, Nikki Vig, Premlata Menaria, Snehlata Rao, Rekha Jain, Rekha, Suman Panwar, and several other distinguished guests.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mohan Singh Shaktawat, District In-charge of Bharat Swabhiman Nyas, who appreciated the efforts of all organisers and participants. He also invited everyone to actively participate in the celebration of 'Herbal Day' (Jadi-Booti Diwas) on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, marking the birth anniversary of Acharya Balkrishna.
