Hindustan Zinc’s Summer Camp Empowers Rural Students, Builds Future Leaders

Chittorgarh,Reinforcing its commitment to education and rural development, Hindustan Zinc successfully concluded its month-long Shiksha Sambal Summer Camp, benefiting more than 250 students from rural areas and equipping them with academic, life, and leadership skills.


Addressing the closing ceremony as Chief Guest, District Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Singh lauded Hindustan Zinc’s efforts in strengthening education in rural communities. He described the summer camp as an excellent initiative that productively engaged students during their vacation while laying a stronger foundation for their future.

“Investing in our younger generation is essential for building a stronger nation. Curiosity, questioning, and a willingness to learn are key ingredients for success,” Singh said. He encouraged students to embrace challenges, continue striving despite limited resources, and develop expertise in their chosen fields.

The camp was organized under Hindustan Zinc’s flagship Shiksha Sambal Programme at Hind Zinc School, Zinc Nagar, by the company’s Chanderiya Lead Zinc Smelter. Designed primarily for students entering secondary education, the camp focused on improving learning outcomes while nurturing the hidden potential of rural talent.

The valedictory function, held at Zinc Nagar Executive Club, was attended by senior officials including Alok Ranjan, Location Head – Chanderiya Smelting Complex; Pramod Dashora, CDEO; Dr. Sumer Singh, Additional Director, Animal Husbandry Department; CSR Head Sundarraj; CSO G. Mallesham; and several education and community leaders.

Speaking on the occasion, Alok Ranjan highlighted Hindustan Zinc’s various educational initiatives, including Shiksha Sambal and Unchi Udaan. He motivated students to strengthen their communication skills, language proficiency, discipline, and self-confidence to excel in life and career. He urged participants to apply the lessons learned during the camp and become role models in their communities.

The event featured vibrant cultural performances and student testimonials, where participants shared how the camp had boosted their confidence and broadened their learning horizons. Certificates and mementos were awarded to students for their attendance, participation, and exceptional performance.

The summer camp provided comprehensive academic support in Mathematics, Science, and English, while also emphasizing holistic development through sports, yoga, art and craft, cultural activities, digital learning modules, audio-visual content, and hands-on learning experiences.

Around 250 students from 17 government senior secondary schools across Chittorgarh district participated in the programme. In addition, more than 40 students attended a residential learning camp in Udaipur, gaining exposure to advanced educational opportunities.

Conducted jointly by Hindustan Zinc and Vidya Bhawan Society, the initiative also connected students with laboratories, libraries, and expert educators. Hindustan Zinc employees volunteered their time to conduct special sessions, mentoring students not only in academics but also in sports, culture, and personality development.

The successful completion of the Shiksha Sambal Summer Camp once again demonstrated Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to empowering rural youth through quality education, creating opportunities, and nurturing the next generation of changemakers.
