UDAIPUR: In a significant step towards promoting sustainable water management, Government Girls School, Ayad, Udaipur, has appointed a group of students as "Jal Monitors" (Water Monitors) under a special water conservation awareness campaign.

Addressing the programme, renowned water conservation expert Dr. P. C. Jain explained the growing challenges of water scarcity and emphasized the importance of rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge and responsible water usage. Through an informative audio-visual presentation, he introduced practical measures that students can adopt in their daily lives to conserve every drop of water.

Dr. Jain said that each Jal Monitor would serve as a Water Conservation Ambassador, spreading awareness within the school, at home and across the local community. The selected students will also educate their classmates on effective water-saving practices and encourage responsible water use.

He further announced that all Jal Monitors will undergo monthly online and offline training sessions. These sessions will focus on the latest techniques in water conservation, rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge and sustainable water management, enabling students to become active contributors to environmental protection.

The programme concluded with all Jal Monitors taking the pledge "Save Water, Save the Future," committing themselves to promoting water conservation in their homes, schools and society.

School Principal Mrs. Ranjana Sharma welcomed the guests and appreciated the initiative, while Water Conservation Coordinator Mrs. Pravarshi Shrimali proposed the vote of thanks.
