Udaipur, Young dancers from Sur Sangam Music and Dance Academy, Udaipur, delivered a remarkable performance at a dance competition held in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, winning a total of five awards under the expert guidance of renowned Kathak guru Mrs. Renu Gorer.
At the prestigious Asian Dance Summit, organised at Sri Vijaya Puram in the Andaman Islands, artists from Udaipur showcased their exceptional talent and brought laurels to the city. The team from Sur Sangam Music and Dance Academy impressed the jury with their performances in Kathak, folk, and semi-classical dance forms, securing five awards across different categories.
In recognition of this outstanding achievement on an international platform, Dr. Purva Agrawal, Hinaya Vagadia, Yami Vardaar, and Jiana Vagadia were felicitated with trophies at the Asian Dance Summit by Chief Guest Kumar Sharma, a renowned international performer and celebrity choreographer. They were also honoured in the presence of Nrityashree Soma Mandal (choreographer, performer, and Grade ‘A’ Bharatanatyam artist) and Mrs. Sujata Chakravarti, a noted Kathak dancer.
On this occasion, a special honour was bestowed upon Mrs. Renu Gorer, Director and Guru of the academy, who was awarded the prestigious Nritya Sanjeevani Award for her dedication to dance and excellence in choreography. The performances prepared under her mentorship and training left a strong impression on the panel of judges.
In the competition results, Dr. Purva Agrawal emerged as the winner in the Open Age Category (Folk Dance) and secured the position of First Runner-up in the Semi-Classical category. In the Minor Age Category (Kathak), Hinaya Vagadia won the Winner’s title, while Yami Vardaar claimed the First Runner-up position. Additionally, in the Junior Age Category (Kathak), Jiana Vagadia achieved the Runner-up position.
The success of the Sur Sangam team has brought pride to Udaipur and highlighted the academy’s growing recognition on national and international cultural platforms.
