###Dr. S. K. Verma Honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award 2026 by IFEE, Kolkata

Udaipur: Dr. S. K. Verma, President of the Society for Microvita Research and Integrated Medicine (SMRIM), Udaipur, and Professor Emeritus in the Department of Medicine at Pacific Medical College & Hospital, Udaipur, Rajasthan, has been conferred the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award 2026 by the International Foundation for Environment and Ecology (IFEE), Kolkata.

The award was presented during the International Multidisciplinary Webinar on “Ecosystem-Based Adaptation: Working with Nature to Adapt to a Changing Climate,” held online on May 29–30, 2026.

Dr. Verma received the honour in recognition of his remarkable contribution to the conservation of the medicinally important Semal (Bombax ceiba) tree in Udaipur district. Since 2006, he and the members of SMRIM have been actively working to promote the preservation of this valuable species through awareness campaigns, group discussions, conference presentations, seminars, publications in newspapers and magazines, pamphlet distribution, social media outreach, and large-scale plantation drives across Udaipur and surrounding areas.

A significant aspect of this conservation initiative has been the promotion of eco-friendly iron poles as an alternative to Semal tree trunks traditionally used during Holika Dahan celebrations. This campaign, initiated in 2011, has helped reduce the felling of Semal trees while encouraging environmentally responsible practices.

The Semal tree holds special ecological and cultural significance as one of the five sacred plants associated with the concept of Panchwati. It is also known for its ability to absorb harmful pollutants and toxic gases from the environment. Dr. Verma further strengthened conservation efforts by authoring the first dedicated book on the Semal tree and continues to actively support the Semal Conservation Mission.

Dr. Verma has previously received several prestigious honours from national and international scientific organizations for his outstanding contributions to holistic healthcare, medical research, integrated medicine, and Microvitology. The IFEE honour marks his seventh Lifetime Achievement Award, reflecting his unwavering dedication, perseverance, and significant contributions to medical science and environmental conservation.

The recognition highlights Dr. Verma’s unique efforts in bridging healthcare, environmental sustainability, and community awareness, making him a distinguished figure in both medical and ecological fields.
