Former Rajasthan Minister and former BJP State General Secretary Sushil Katara expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Rural Development Minister Kirodilal Meena, Panchayati Raj Minister Madan Dilawar, Minister of State for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Otararam Devasi, and the BJP state organisation for the reorganisation of Panchayat Samitis and Gram Panchayats in Dungarpur district.
According to Katara’s personal secretary, two new Panchayat Samitis—Bhandari and Padwa—along with 88 new Gram Panchayats have been created in Dungarpur district. The earlier constituted Panchayat Samitis Paldeval and Gamdi Ahada have also been reorganised. With this restructuring, the district will now have a total of 14 Panchayat Samitis instead of the previous 10, and 441 Gram Panchayats instead of 353, including 81 newly constituted Gram Panchayats.
The new formation will lead to an increase in the number of Sarpanchs, Deputy Sarpanchs, Ward Panchs, Zila Parishad wards, and Panchayat Samiti wards. Additionally, posts for staff at the Gram Panchayat level will also increase.
The decision to reorganise Panchayat Samitis and Gram Panchayats is expected to become a milestone for the development of Dungarpur district. It will help bring administration closer to the people and fulfil the vision of Gram Swaraj. This step of the state government has been appreciated as it is expected to give new direction to rural development and ensure quicker access to public services. The move is anticipated to create new opportunities and accelerate growth in the region in the coming years.
