Unity of Dalits, Backward Communities, Minorities and Tribal People can oust the followers of Manu from power: Dr. Kusum Meghwal

Udaipur, The birth anniversary of first woman teacher of India Savitri Bai Phule was observed by All India Progressive Women’s Association (AIPWA) Udaipur on 3rd January 2026. On this occasion her associate and close friend Fatima Sheikh was also commemorated. The key speaker of the programme noted Dalit writer and activist Dr. Kusum Meghwal said if  Dalits, Backward Communities, Minorities and Tribal People unite the followers of Manu who are ruling at the center and many states can be ousted from power. The Municipal Counselor Nazma Mewafarosh  said that the contribution of Savitri Bai Phule in building up the foundation of women’s education can never be forgotten. Prof. Sudha Chaudhary, national vice president of AIPWA said that the friendship of Savitri Bai Phule and Fatima Sheikh is exemplary in the present time and said that in order to fight the divisive forces it is essential to develop unity and cooperation among people of all religions and communities. The state secretary of AIPWA Prof. Farhat Bano called for the education of women and invoked them to educate their children in addition to fulfilling their domestic roles. On this occasion historian Prof. Pramila Singhvi narrated the life struggles of Fatima Sheikh and Savitri Bai Phule. Former administrative officer Yasin Khan Pathan asked the women in the audience to narrate the problems they are facing and offered to help them in solving them. Prof. L.R. Patel discussed the problems of unemployment, security and equal rights of women in rural areas. Prof. Hemendra Chandalia former Zonal Secretary of AIFUCTO expressed the need of developing political consciousness among women besides formal education. Dr.Farhat Bano said that a week long programme has been organized to commemorate these two icons of women empowerment. Programmes have been organized at Ambavgarh, Vijay Singh Pathik Nagar, Savina, Aaloo Factory, Kalbeliya Basti, Rangaswami Basti, Aawari Maata Kachchi basti, Farukh Azam Colony, Mahawatvadi, New Regarcolony, Patel Circle etc. Several ladies including D.Shakeela, Sister JOna, Zeenat Varsi, Lisa, Ashish, Mohini, Kalawati, Indira,Hasina, Raju Bai, Parveen, Shakila,Munni, Asha, Dhapu Bai, Abida, Razia, Tasleem, Nazma, Khursheeda, Naseem, Parvati, Shaheen, Chaman, Mumtaz participated in the programme.
