Udaipur | Hon’ble Governor Shri Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde was on a one-day visit to Udaipur on Wednesday. During his visit, he attended the second convocation ceremony of Bhupal Nobles (B.N.) University held at the B.N. Ground as the Chief Guest.
At the convocation ceremony, the Hon’ble Governor conferred Ph.D. degrees upon 90 research scholars and awarded gold medals to 47 students. In total, degrees from various faculties were awarded to 2,025 students. On his arrival at the venue, the Hon’ble Governor was presented a Guard of Honour by the NCC cadets of the institution.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Shri Bagde said that B.N. Institution began as a modest school and has today established itself as a prestigious university with nationwide recognition. He stated that the institution is realizing the vision of social upliftment through education, a vision laid down by Mewar’s inspirational leader Maharana Bhupal Singh. He noted that Maharana Bhupal Singh had deep faith in education and public welfare and set exemplary standards of governance in various fields. In 1945, he established a dispensary within his palace to provide medical treatment to the needy, reflecting his compassion and foresight.
Referring to the glorious history of Mewar, the Governor said that the rulers of Mewar governed as representatives of Lord Eklingji. He recalled that Bappa Rawal, the founder of Mewar, bravely confronted foreign invaders and drove Muhammad bin Qasim back to the borders of Iran. Such historical accounts, he said, continue to inspire future generations.
The Governor emphasized that Mewar is a predominantly tribal region and that B.N. Institution has played a crucial role in spreading education in these areas. Through education, the institution has illuminated tribal regions with knowledge. He stressed that connecting tribal communities with higher education is the need of the hour so that they can join the mainstream and actively contribute to nation-building. The upliftment of deprived and backward sections, he said, is one of the country’s greatest priorities today.
He further stated that if poverty is to be eradicated permanently, education is the most powerful tool to achieve this goal. Merely obtaining degrees should not be the ultimate aim of life; rather, there should be a determination to continuously progress and a commitment to lifelong learning. Continuous effort is essential for success. Students should enhance their intellectual abilities through constant practice, broaden their thinking and vision, and develop a mindset that visualizes success—success will surely follow.
Speaking about the goal of *“Viksit Bharat 2047,”* the Governor said that its responsibility rests on the shoulders of India’s youth. The nation’s golden future will emerge from universities, and students should aspire to revive the glory of ancient centers of learning such as Takshashila and Nalanda. He praised the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, stating that under his guidance, more than 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty over the past 10 years, exemplifying good governance and inclusive development.
The convocation ceremony was attended by educationist Kailash Sodhani, several distinguished guests, university officials, academic and administrative staff, a large number of students, and their family members.
