Development is Incomplete Without the Conservation of Nature: Colonel Prof. Sarangdevot

Udaipur: A two-day international conference on the theme “Biodiversity Conservation and Its Role in Sustainable Development” concluded successfully and with great dignity at Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth. Organized on May 18 and 19, 2026, the conference brought together scholars, researchers, and environmental experts from India and abroad to deliberate on global environmental challenges, climate change, biodiversity conservation, and strategies for sustainable development.

The chief guest of the programme was Chancellor B.L. Gurjar of Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth.

The conference was presided over by Vice Chancellor Honorary Colonel Prof. Shiv Singh Sarangdevot, who inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp. In his presidential address, he stated that economic progress is meaningful only when it maintains the balance of nature and the environment. He emphasized that the foundation of sustainable development lies in establishing harmony with nature and that environmental conservation has become the greatest necessity of the present time for future generations. Prof. Manju Mandot was also present on the dais.

Distinguished guest Prof. Vimal Sharma, during the technical session, presented scientific facts regarding the ongoing loss of biodiversity and the resulting threats to global food security and agricultural systems.

Keynote speaker Prof. Sangeeta Rathore elaborated on practical measures for conserving local biodiversity in the era of climate change and discussed global environmental policies in detail.

Director of the institute Dr. Sapna Shrimali welcomed the guests and highlighted the objectives of the conference, stating that such programmes provide new direction to research and environmental awareness.

Organizing Secretary Dr. Pooja Joshi successfully coordinated the various technical sessions of the two-day event and expressed gratitude to all guests and participants.

Among the distinguished invited speakers were Dr. Pallavi Saxena, Dr. Pritam Joshi, Dr. Manoj Joshi, and Dr. Vijay, along with several other experts who presented their research-based views.

The successful organization of the international conference was supported significantly by the university core team, including Dr. Jai Singh Jodha, Dr. Mangal Shri Doolawat, Dr. Uttam Prakash Sharma, Dr. Yogita Shrimali, Dr. Bhavesh Joshi, Dr. Khushboo Jain, Dr. Lokesh Suthar, Dr. Lalima Sharma, Dr. Shaktika Chaudhary, Samar Fateh Singh, Dr. Himani Verma, Mahendra Kumar Meena, Rupesh Juniwal, Pramod Purohit, and Vikram Singh Sardar.
