###Hybrid Aortic Surgery Saves 73-Year-Old Patient

Udaipur: A highly complex surgery involving the main aorta of a 73-year-old critically ill patient was successfully performed using advanced hybrid technology at Geetanjali Hospital. The patient had initially been examined in Chittorgarh, where doctors advised immediate referral to a higher center due to the severity of the condition.

During evaluation at the hospital, CT angiography revealed that nearly 10 cm of the main artery (aorta) emerging from the heart was severely damaged. This segment was also connected to three critical arteries supplying blood to the brain and both arms, significantly increasing the risks associated with conventional open surgery.

Considering the complexity, the expert team planned a two-stage hybrid procedure. In the first stage, the three major arteries were rerouted and connected to a new position using artificial grafts to ensure uninterrupted blood flow. In the second stage, a stent graft was inserted through the leg artery to seal the ruptured portion of the aorta internally.

Doctors stated that this advanced hybrid approach helped avoid a major open surgery and significantly reduced procedural risks. Such complex procedures are rarely performed in Rajasthan, and this case is being regarded as possibly the first successful instance of its kind in the state.

The patient is currently stable, and recovery is reported to be satisfactory.

The procedure was led by Dr. Sanjay Gandhi (Head, CTVS), Dr. Ramesh Patel (Head Cardiologist), and Dr. Brijesh Soni (Neuroimaging & Interventional Neuroradiologist), along with a large multidisciplinary team including Dr. Shobhit Mathur, Dr. Sunil Sagar (Cardiac Surgeons), Dr. Dileep Jain, Dr. Rohin K. Saini, Dr. Gaurav Kumar Mittal (Cardiologists), Dr. Ankur Gandhi, Dr. Kalpesh Mistry, Dr. Sumit Tavri, Dr. Archana Devtara (Anesthesia Specialists), and Dr. Tanya Dixit (Neuroimaging & Interventional Neuroradiology Specialist).

Geetanjali Hospital offers comprehensive and advanced cardiac care facilities, including 24x7 Cath Lab services (angiography and angioplasty), cardiac surgeries such as bypass and valve replacement, echocardiography, TMT, and Holter monitoring. A robust emergency response system ensures treatment for heart attack patients within the golden hour.

The hospital is also equipped with a dedicated Cardiac ICU (CCU), ventilator support, pacemaker and ICD implantation services, and a team of experienced cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and trained nursing staff available round the clock. Additionally, cardiac rehabilitation, diet counseling, and lifestyle management services are provided for long-term patient care.

Furthermore, advanced neuro-interventional services such as 24x7 stroke mechanical thrombectomy, aneurysm coiling, and bleeder embolization are available, ensuring timely and effective treatment for critical brain-related conditions.
