2nd Edition of the 2 to 7-Minute Movie Making Competition – 2026

Jaipur: The Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) has announced the launch of the 2nd Edition of the "2 to 7-Minute Movie Making Competition – 2026," inviting entries from school, college, and university students across India. The competition aims to encourage young filmmakers to showcase their creativity, storytelling abilities, and filmmaking skills while competing for cash and in-kind prizes worth INR 1,00,000.*

The competition is open to teams of 3 to 10 students, and participants may submit either fiction or non-fiction films. Students from all academic disciplines are eligible to participate, with no age restrictions.

Each film must have a duration of 2 to 7 minutes. For college and university students, films must be produced between March and August 2026 and should include at least one shot of a newspaper from this period with a clearly visible date. School students may submit films produced after January 2025. Entries may be shot using mobile phones, video cameras, or film cameras.

Participants are free to create films on any subject. Special competitions will also be held for films based on Jaipur and War & Peace themes. Under the Jaipur theme, participants may explore topics such as environment, healthcare, education, tourism, culture, heritage, industry, jewellery, politics, safety, development, and other aspects of the city from either positive or critical perspectives.

The submission deadline is 25 July 2026, while the results will be announced on 26 August 2026. The participation fee is INR 1,500 per film per team.

Depending on the number of entries received, the top 5 to 21 films will receive awards. The total prize pool includes cash and in-kind awards worth INR 1,00,000, along with winner certificates and an Audience Choice Award.

Entries will be evaluated by a distinguished jury comprising film experts, professors, and industry professionals based on creativity and originality, storytelling and screenplay, cinematography, editing, sound design, and overall impact.

Selected films will be officially screened during the Jaipur International Film Festival (8–12 January 2027). Winning participants will also receive complimentary delegate passes for both the Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) and the New Delhi Film Festival (NDFF), providing valuable networking opportunities with filmmakers and film industry professionals.
