####Speaker Vasudev Devnani Addresses National Seminar at University of Ladakh; Says Indian Philosophy Can Lead the World to Lasting Peace

Jaipur/Leh: Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani said that Indian philosophy and cultural values have the potential to guide the world towards lasting peace, harmony, and sustainable development. He emphasized that if the 21st century is to become the century of humanity, the world must move away from war, terrorism, and religious extremism and embrace compassion, coexistence, service, and universal brotherhood—the core principles of India's civilizational

ethos.

Addressing a one-day National Seminar on "India's Role in World Peace and Cultural Values" at the University of Ladakh in Leh on Thursday, Devnani said the world is currently facing serious challenges, including armed conflicts, terrorism, environmental crises, social inequalities, mental stress, and the decline of human values. In such circumstances, Indian philosophy offers a meaningful path toward peace and sustainable progress.

He described Indian culture as a comprehensive way of life that promotes not only material prosperity but also spiritual growth, social harmony, and global welfare. Referring to the ancient principle of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" (The World is One Family), he said India's timeless message of universal brotherhood is more relevant today than ever before.

Devnani said India's ancient sages were great researchers and scientists who explored the mysteries of human life, nature, and the universe thousands of years ago. Their teachings, he noted, continue to inspire humanity with values of harmony, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.

Highlighting the contributions of Lord Buddha, Lord Mahavira, Guru Nanak Dev, and Swami Vivekananda, he said their messages of compassion, non-violence, service, and universal brotherhood remain the strongest foundations for global peace. He also expressed concern over the growing threat of terrorism, calling it one of humanity's greatest challenges, and stressed the need for collective global action, mutual trust, and strong political will to combat it.

The Assembly Speaker said lasting peace cannot be achieved merely through military strength or a balance of power but through dialogue, mutual respect, and human values. He also described Yoga as India's invaluable gift to the world, noting that the United Nations' recognition of International Yoga Day reflects global acceptance of India's rich cultural heritage.

Devnani urged the youth to reconnect with India's cultural traditions, ethical values, and knowledge systems, saying they would play a vital role in nation-building while also contributing to global peace and harmony.

The seminar was attended by Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta, Indresh Kumar, Patron of the Himalaya Parivar and Sindhu Darshan Yatra Committee, vice-chancellors of several universities, academicians, research scholars, and students.

During his visit to Ladakh, Devnani also paid a courtesy call on Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, where the two discussed national development, good governance, education, tourism, preservation of cultural heritage, and the development of border regions.

He also visited the historic Leh Palace, describing the 17th-century monument as a magnificent symbol of Ladakh's rich history, unique architecture, and cultural heritage. He praised ongoing efforts to preserve the region's heritage and highlighted the significant progress made in infrastructure, tourism, and conservation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
