New Delhi:** Union Railway Minister **Ashwini Vaishnaw** held a meeting on Thursday at the Rail Bhavan, New Delhi, with **Union Ministers of State V. Somanna and Ravneet Singh**, the **Railway Board Chairman & CEO**, and senior officials to discuss major reforms in Indian Railways.
The meeting resulted in a **decision to implement significant improvements**, with a target of **52 reforms in 52 weeks**, aimed at **systemic enhancements in efficiency, operations, and service delivery**. The initiative emphasizes a “New Year, New Resolve” approach to bring transformative changes to the railway network.
On **safety**, the focus is to reduce serious railway accidents to single digits, continuing the decline from **135 accidents in 2014-15 to 11 in 2025-26**, by further strengthening preventive measures.
The meeting highlighted the need to **accelerate the use of AI and advanced technologies** for **railway safety, maintenance, and operational efficiency**. Reforms in **talent management and training** were also discussed, including exploring innovative methods for employee skill development and effective deployment.
Additionally, the agenda included **improvements in food and catering services**, focusing on **better quality, hygiene, and onboard services** for passengers. Senior officials and ministers shared **ground-level experiences**, and the meeting reviewed ongoing initiatives related to **infrastructure development, maintenance, and capacity enhancement**.
The Ministry of Railways reiterated its **commitment to reforms, safety, technological progress, and passenger-centric development** across the railway network.
