Travel Without Valid ID to Be Treated as Ticketless Journey

Sri Ganganagar:As per the directions issued by the Railway Board, carrying and producing a valid identity proof during train travel has been made mandatory. Non-compliance with this rule will result in the journey being treated as ticketless, inviting penal action against passengers.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of West Central Railway, Kota Division, Mr Saurabh Jain, informed that according to Railway Board guidelines, during travel in reserved classes, at least one passenger from a group must produce the prescribed original identity proof when asked. Failure to do so will result in all passengers in the group being considered as travelling without a valid ticket, and action will be taken as per railway rules.

He further stated that passengers who have booked tickets under any special reserved quota or availed of concessions must carry valid documents to substantiate their eligibility and claims. In the absence of such proof, the concession or reserved quota benefit will be deemed invalid.

The Railway Board has stressed strict enforcement of these instructions, particularly on rail services operating in international border areas such as India–Nepal and India–Bangladesh routes, where identity verification must be carried out with enhanced vigilance.

The railway administration has directed all concerned officers and staff to ensure strict compliance with the rules while maintaining passenger convenience.
