Jaipur Military Station plants 42,000 saplings during Van Mahotsav 2026

JAIPUR, India  Jaipur Military Station has planted 42,000 saplings as part of a two-week green initiative held during Van Mahotsav 2026, bringing together military units, schools, resident welfare associations and non-governmental organizations to promote environmental conservation.

The plantation drive was conducted from July 1 to July 14 and concluded with saplings being planted across the military station through the participation of military personnel, students of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Army Public School, resident welfare associations and partner NGOs.

The campaign also featured a series of environmental awareness activities, including programs by National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets, drawing competitions, educational plays and street performances by students from Army Public School and Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2. The events focused on environmental conservation and sustainable living.

Officials from the Rajasthan Forest Department and environmental experts from participating NGOs conducted lectures and interactive sessions on scientific plantation methods, maintenance and post-plantation care to improve the long-term survival of the saplings.

The plantation was carried out at military units, central institutions and residential areas within Jaipur Military Station.

According to officials, Riyasat Foundation contributed 5,000 saplings, while Aadhar Shodh Sansthan and Countree Foundation planted 25,000 and 12,000 saplings, respectively. The two organizations used the Miyawaki method of afforestation and committed to maintaining the plantations for one year to support healthy growth and improve survival rates.

The initiative forms part of the Indian Army's annual observance of Van Mahotsav, a nationwide tree-planting campaign aimed at increasing green cover and encouraging public participation in environmental conservation.
