Kota, In a striking and symbolic protest, Congress workers on Wednesday donned helmets to highlight the dangerous condition of a government primary school located right behind the Kota residence of Rajasthan’s Education Minister, Madan Dilawar. The unusual demonstration was aimed at drawing attention to what the party called the government’s “criminal neglect” of children’s safety in public schools.
The protest took place at Government Primary School, Hariom Nagar, where activists alleged that the school building and boundary walls are in such a dilapidated state that they could collapse at any moment. Wearing helmets, the protesters sent a clear message: children are being forced to study under constant risk.
“This is not just negligence, this is playing with lives,” Congress workers said, adding that despite the school’s proximity to the minister’s home, no concrete action has been taken to repair or rebuild the unsafe structure.
“If the Minister Can’t See This, What About the State?”
Ganesh Nagar Mandal President Chetan Solanki launched a direct attack on the Education Minister, stating,
“If the education minister cannot see the condition of a government school behind his own house, one can only imagine the state of government schools across Rajasthan.”
He reminded that similar incidents in the past have resulted in children getting injured due to collapsing school buildings, yet lessons remain unlearned.
Warning of Intensified Agitation
The Congress workers staged a sit-in at the school premises and warned that if immediate steps are not taken to repair the building and ensure student safety, the agitation will be intensified across the city.
In a powerful visual statement, the protesters pasted a memorandum addressed to the Education Minister directly on the school’s crumbling wall—symbolizing what they termed as “governance stuck to broken walls.”
