Udaipur: Thursday evening in the City of Lakes turned into a Bollywood Night as the legendary singer and Padma Shri awardee Anuradha Paudwal mesmerized the audience with her enchanting voice. From classic hits to timeless melodies, her performance struck a chord with people of all ages, who joined in clapping, singing along, and reliving memories through her songs.
The musical evening was organized at the Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal to commemorate the 73rd birth anniversary of late Indira Murdia, under the joint aegis of Indira Enterprises, Kashti Foundation, and USM Group. The event was free for the public, and the auditorium was packed by 7 PM.
Welcoming the Guests:
The event began with a warm welcome by Dr. Ajay Murdia, Neetij Murdia, Kshitij Murdia (Indira Enterprises), Shraddha Murdia, Aastha Murdia (Kashti Foundation), and Dr. H. S. Bhui (USM Group).
An Evening of Hits:
Anuradha Paudwal opened her set with the 1990 superhit “Tamma Tamma Loge” from Thanedaar, making the audience sway and sing along. She then performed evergreen hits like “Dheere Dheere Se Meri Zindagi Mein Aana” and the romantic “Nazar Ke Samne Jigar Ke Paas” from Aashiqui, earning roaring applause from both youth and elders.
Other highlights included songs from the 1991 film Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin—“Adaayein Bhi Hai, Mohabbat Bhi Hai”—and the timeless melody “Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh.” The first half concluded with an award ceremony.
In the second half, Anuradha returned to the stage to a thunderous welcome from the audience. She began with the 1972 classic “Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai” and performed nostalgic songs like “Ye Sama Sama Hai Ye Pyar Ka” from Jab Jab Phool Khile (1965), and “Rahe Na Rahe Hum” from Mamta (1966). She then delighted fans with Sajan’s superhit “Bahut Pyar Karte Hain Tumko Sanam” and the soulful “Saanson Ki Zarurat Hai,” earning applause that echoed throughout the auditorium.

Lifetime Achievement Award:
During the evening, the first “Indira Murdia Lifetime Achievement Award” was presented by Indira Enterprises and the Science Committee to former Indian politician Deepak Woraji for his outstanding public service. He received a citation along with a cash prize of ₹500,000. This award will now be presented annually at the national level.

Upcoming Event:
On 27 March, a musical journey featuring the songs of renowned Bollywood filmmaker Indra Kumar will be presented, free for the public but accessible with passes. A special attraction will be the Harmony of Pines Police Band from Himachal Pradesh, a 15-member group performing in Udaipur for the first time.
