Vice President Releases Constitution in Sindhi Devanagari Script; Udaipur Representatives Witness Historic Moment

Udaipur: The release of the Indian Constitution in Sindhi language (Devanagari script) by the Vice President was witnessed by Rajani and several other members of the Sindhi community from Udaipur, marking a proud moment for the community. Sindhi community members from across the country attended the event, which was made possible through the efforts of Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani and MP Shankar Lalwani, bringing a moment of honour to the Sindhi society.

On the occasion of Sindhi Language Day, a dignified ceremony was held at the Vice President’s House in New Delhi, where Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan appreciated the contribution of the Sindhi community to India’s development and formally released the Constitution of India published in Sindhi (Devanagari script). Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal highlighted the dedication, perseverance, and spirit of service of the Sindhi community and read out the Prime Minister’s message extending greetings to the community on Sindhi Language Day.

MP Shankar Lalwani from Indore, in his address, said that the Sindhi community plays a significant role in India’s economy. He noted that although the community constitutes only about 1% of the population, it contributes nearly 20% to GDP generation, around 24% in income tax, and approximately 22% in charity activities. He also mentioned that Sindhi is a rich language with 52 letters and a strong literary tradition.

Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, in his address, elaborated on the journey of the Sindhi community from displacement during Partition to becoming a strong and prosperous community. He stated that Sindhis who came to India after Partition were not refugees but achievers, and they are settled across the world.

Former Chairman of the Rajasthan Sindhi Academy, Harish Rajani, said that this historic initiative will serve as an inspiration for future generations and will prove to be a milestone in the preservation and promotion of Sindhi language and culture.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including former minister Harish Rajani from Udaipur, Sindhi Samaj Vice President Kamal Pahuja, Ashok Linjara, Sindhi Central Youth President Vijay Ahuja, Mukesh Khilwani, Eshwar Jhamnani from Indore, Vishal Gidwani, Gordhan Asnani from Jaipur, Mukesh Lakhyani, Tulsi Sangtani, Govind Gurbani, Shyam Satwani, and Bharat Asnani.
