Udaipur: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, a seminar and tribute program was organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) City District Udaipur. A short film based on his life was also screened during the event.
The program was attended by several dignitaries including city MLA Tarachand Jain, rural MLA Phool Singh Meena, BJP State Working Committee member Pramod Samar, and OBC Morcha State Vice President Jagdish Suthar, along with other public representatives. The session was presided over by CD Charan, while guests of honour included Devendra Sahu, Devanarayan Dhabhai, Pratibha Nagda, and Sonika Jain.
Chief guest Pramod Samar said that Jyotiba Phule dedicated his life to fighting social evils such as caste discrimination, untouchability, and child marriage. He announced a series of resolutions on the centenary year of Phule’s legacy, including:
Blood donation of 200 units by OBC Morcha
Construction of roads and installation of life-size statues of Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule with government support
Publication of a booklet on his life
Felicitation of 200 prominent members of the OBC community
Efforts to establish a Jyotiba Phule Chair in the university
These resolutions were unanimously adopted during the event.
BJP OBC Morcha City District President Babulal Od welcomed and thanked the guests. Media in-charge Dr. Seema Champawat stated that speakers highlighted Phule’s contributions to education, women’s empowerment, and social reform.
Speakers including Yashwant Mandavra and co-coordinator Devendra Sahu urged everyone to adopt Phule’s ideals in daily life. OBC Morcha State Vice President Jagdish Suthar appealed to workers to prioritize party organization, while former BJP president Dinesh Bhatt described Phule as a pioneer of girls’ education, widow remarriage, and social reforms.
The event witnessed participation from several BJP and OBC Morcha office bearers, community leaders, former councillors, and hundreds of workers. The proceedings were conducted by OBC Morcha General Secretary Kamlesh Prajapat, while the vote of thanks was delivered by former president Revashankar Mali.
