Udaipur. While narrating the *Shrimad Bhagavat Katha* from the *Vyas Peeth* (pulpit) during the final phase of the discourses held at Udaipur’s renowned Jagdish Temple—organized as part of the *Purushottam Maas* (an auspicious extra month in the lunar calendar)—Pandit Jitendra Mohan Bhatt stated that righteous conduct (*sadachar*) and devotion to God are the only means to attain liberation from the vices of *Kali Yuga*. In this era, human beings become beset by numerous flaws such as greed, attachment, anger, ego, falsehood, deceit, and an aversion to righteousness (*dharma*). In such times, remembering the Lord's name, engaging in spiritual company (*satsang*), listening to the *Bhagavat*, and practicing righteous conduct are the primary remedies to overcome the evils of *Kali Yuga*.
During the religious discourse, Pt.Bhatt remarked that while death is an inevitable truth of life, one can make life meaningful and free oneself from fear, anxiety, and attachment through devotion to God, spiritual wisdom, and virtuous deeds. Citing the episode of King Parikshit, Pt. Bhatt noted that when the King was cursed to die within seven days from the bite of the serpent Takshak, the *Shrimad Bhagavat Katha*—narrated by the sage Shukadeva—dispelled his fear of death. By listening to the narrative, King Parikshit gained knowledge regarding the immortality of the soul and attained supreme peace.
Earlier, Pandit Bhatt narrated the enlightening dialogue between Lord Krishna and Vidura, as described in the eleventh *Skandha* (canto) of the *Shrimad Bhagavat*, to the assembled devotees. As the *Adhik Maas* (extra month) reaches its culmination, the Jagdish Temple is witnessing a massive influx of devotees drawn by the *Shrimad Bhagavat Katha* and the daily display of enchanting *jhankis* (tableau presentations).
