Future Teachers Trained in Safe and Responsible Internet Use

Cyber Safety Awareness Workshop Held at DIET Udaipur

Udaipur: As part of its ongoing cyber safety awareness initiatives, the ET Wing of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Udaipur, organized a special awareness workshop focused on cyber security. The programme aimed to educate first- and second-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) trainee teachers about emerging cyber threats and practical ways to stay safe online.

ET Cell In-charge Haridatt Sharma highlighted that in today’s digital era, the rapid expansion of internet and social media usage has also led to a rise in cyber crimes and online risks. In such a scenario, it is crucial to make future teachers aware of cyber security so that they can protect themselves as well as guide others.

The keynote session was delivered by cyber awareness expert Chirag Sainani, who provided detailed insights into various aspects of cyber security. He explained how cyber criminals target personal data, passwords, banking information, and social media accounts. He shed light on threats such as email spam, phishing, malware, hacking, and identity theft, and shared simple yet effective preventive measures. These included creating strong passwords, using two-factor authentication, avoiding suspicious links, and keeping software regularly updated.

The programme was inaugurated by DIET Principal Sheela Kahaliya, who, in her address, emphasized that the present age is driven by information technology and digital education. She stated that future teachers must not only ensure their own online safety but also be capable of guiding students and society to protect themselves from cyber crimes. Stressing the positive use of technology, she described cyber security as an essential need of the times.

Several faculty members and officials were present on the occasion, including Vice Principal Dr. Brijbala Sharma, Manju Tank and Girish Kumar Choubisa from the PSTE wing, ET Wing Head Beena Kanwar Rajput, Dr. Jagdish Kumawat, Gayatri Joshi, Amrita Joshi, Tejpal Jain, Surendra Singh Shaktawat, Amita Sharma, Satyapriya, Anjali Kothari, Deepak Sen, and Kiran Maste.

The trainee teachers participated enthusiastically and actively engaged in the interactive session by asking questions related to cyber safety. The speaker addressed their queries with practical examples, making the session more impactful and engaging.

This initiative by DIET Udaipur not only enhanced awareness among trainee teachers about cyber security but also inspired them to become responsible digital citizens in the modern digital landscape.
