Government Offices Promoting Green Energy in the District, Saving Lakhs of Rupees

Udaipur | Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, Udaipur district is playing a leading role in implementing the state government’s budget announcement aimed at promoting renewable energy. Through the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM)–based solar power project being implemented by Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL), solar power plants are being installed on government buildings across the district. This initiative has significantly reduced electricity expenses for these offices while also strengthening environmental conservation efforts.

District Project Officer Rohit Meena informed that under this project, solar power plants with a total capacity of 1.5 megawatts have already been successfully installed and commissioned on 30 major government buildings in the district. The clean energy generated by these plants is meeting the electricity requirements of the respective buildings, resulting in electricity bills being reduced to almost zero.

Key government institutions connected to solar energy under this project include a 120 kW plant at Kar Bhawan, 110 kW at RTDC Kajri Hotel, 150 kW at the TB Hospital, 90 kW at the Principal Model Public School, and an 83 kW solar power plant at the Circuit House, Fateh Sagar. In addition, several other departmental offices, educational institutions, and health facilities have also been benefited through solar energy installations.

Project Officer Meena further stated that under the second phase of the project, work on solar power plants with a total capacity of 949 kW on 20 additional government buildings is in its final stage and will be completed soon. Once commissioned, this will significantly enhance the total solar power generation capacity on government buildings in Udaipur district. These solar installations are not only saving the government lakhs of rupees annually in electricity costs but are also contributing to environmental protection by reducing carbon emissions.
