Udaipur: In line with Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma’s commitment to good governance, the district administration remains fully proactive in addressing public concerns. As part of this initiative, District Collector Namit Mehta visited the Bhinder region on Wednesday. During his visit, he conducted a night chaupal (public hearing) at Gram Panchayat Varni, where he listened sensitively to the grievances of local residents and directed officials to ensure prompt resolution. Earlier, he also inspected the Sub-Divisional Office and the local police station in Bhinder.
The District Collector reached Varni late Wednesday evening, where the night chaupal was organized in the presence of district and sub-divisional level officers. A large number of villagers attended and raised issues related to drinking water, roads, electricity, revenue matters, and other departmental concerns. Key issues included the approval of a new veterinary center, repair of drinking water pipelines, road maintenance, encroachments, and fluoride contamination in drinking water.
During the public hearing, Collector Mehta instructed officials to ensure swift resolution of the complaints and provide immediate relief to villagers. He emphasized that addressing public grievances is the administration’s top priority. He also directed officials to prepare and submit proposals for necessary development works at the village level so that approvals could be granted as per budget provisions. Several issues were resolved on the spot, while assurance was given that remaining matters would be addressed within a stipulated timeframe. Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Zila Parishad, Biramaram, along with district and sub-divisional officials and a large number of villagers, were present on the occasion.
Inspection of SDM Office and Police Station
Prior to the chaupal, District Collector Namit Mehta conducted an annual inspection of sub-divisional government offices. He reviewed the Sub-Divisional Office building and the police station, assessing administrative arrangements. He sought detailed information from staff regarding departmental operations, record maintenance, pending cases, and matters concerning the public. Upon his arrival at the police station, he was given a guard of honor by the personnel. Sub-Divisional Officer Ramesh Bahadiya, Tehsildar Mohit Ashiya, and other officials were present during the inspection. The Collector directed staff to maintain cleanliness, ensure proper record-keeping, and uphold transparency and efficiency in public dealings.
Collector’s Simple and Approachable Nature Wins Hearts
During the Bhinder visit, Collector Namit Mehta also visited Bhim Ka Kheda village to review the quality of grievance redressal related to a complaint received through the Contact Portal. On this occasion, villagers invited him to visit a nearby ashram. Accepting their request graciously, the Collector walked approximately 1.5 kilometers to reach the ashram and interacted with the villagers there. The residents were deeply moved and delighted to have the district’s top administrative officer among them in such a simple and approachable manner.
