Water Source Worship Week Observed on the Occasion of World Water Day

Udaipur: On the occasion of World Water Day, Bharat Vikas Parishad “Subhash” is observing Water Source Worship Week from March 22 to March 28.

On the first day, March 22, a water source पूजा ceremony was held at the well located in the Shiv Temple परिसर at Rana Pratap Nagar Railway Station. This well had been connected to a rooftop rainwater harvesting system in 2012.

On the second day, March 23, a similar program was organized at Mahatma Gandhi School, Sundarwas, where a tube well and hand pump were worshipped through a jal aarti. Dr. P.C. Jain encouraged everyone to take a pledge for daily water conservation by raising the slogan, “Sabse bolo nal kam kholo” (Tell everyone to use less water).

Member Praveen Mehta explained how every drop of water is conserved in desert regions. The program was attended by Laxmi Bakhtani, Sandeep Sanganeria, Indira Kunwar, and other teachers.

Another event was held the same day at the Girls’ School in Sundarwas, where future teachers carried pots filled with water on their heads in a symbolic procession to the school’s tube well, singing the traditional water गीत “Aavri Saheliyan Aapa Jal Pujan Ne Chala.” This was followed by a jal aarti of the tube well.

Praveen Mehta highlighted that the tradition of water worship, such as Ganga Aarti, has existed since the Vedic period, emphasizing that the importance of water has always been significant and will remain so in the future. Dr. P.C. Jain urged everyone to perform water worship at their homes as well.

The school principal expressed gratitude to Bharat Vikas Parishad “Subhash” for organizing the initiative. The event was attended by Mrs. Rachna Dwivedi, Mrs. Shashi Shah, Mamta Meena, Vijayalakshmi Ameta, Kiran Pokharna, Radha Tailor, Priyanka Sharma, Indira Khare, Snehlata Bhaiya, Prem Salvi, Naynesh Dave, Nutan Kumar Pandey, Renu Kumawat, and other participants.
