Union Sports Minister Felicitates Asian Lacrosse Games Champions, Boosts Morale

Udaipur: Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya felicitated the Indian lacrosse team at his residence for their historic achievement in the Asian Lacrosse Championship held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Both the men’s and women’s teams secured gold medals, marking a significant milestone for India in the sport.

Addressing the समारोह, Mandaviya praised the teams for their hard work, discipline, and determination. He said that their journey—filled with unwavering commitment, perseverance, and a never-give-up attitude—was truly inspiring. He emphasized that this victory is not just a win but a powerful message for the youth of the nation.

Highlighting the future of the sport, he noted that lacrosse has been included in the 2028 Summer Olympics, and this double victory would act as a catalyst for India’s growing global presence in the game. He also discussed India’s participation and potential in upcoming Olympic events.

The event was attended by officials of the Lacrosse Federation of India, including Imran Lari, Dr. Ganga Dharaiya, Saurabh Vetal, and Shahzad Khan. Key members of the Indian team present included captain Sunita Meena, Anudeep Reddy, coach Neeraj Batra, Shakeel Khan, and Rajpal Redu.

The minister lauded the international success of the Indian lacrosse teams and appreciated the efforts of the federation. He assured continued government support, including better training facilities and resources, to further promote the sport and enhance India’s performance at the Olympic level.

Additionally, Union Minister of State for AYUSH Prataprao Jadhav, Udaipur MP Mannalal Rawat, and Sports Authority of India (SAI) President Raksha Khadse also welcomed and felicitated the team at their respective residences and offices, extending their best wishes for future achievements.
