Pride of Mewar: Two Udaipur Kayakers Leave for China for Canoe Marathon World Cup 2026

Udaipur: It is a proud moment for the city of lakes, Udaipur. Emerging kayaking players Kanishka Kumawat and Ayush Chaudhary from the city have been selected for the Indian team for the Canoe Marathon World Cup 2026. Both athletes departed for China with the Indian contingent from Delhi on May 20.

Secretary of the Rajasthan Kayaking and Canoeing Association, Dilip Singh Chauhan, said that the selection of the players has created an atmosphere of excitement throughout Udaipur. Before leaving for Delhi, Divisional Commissioner Ms. Pragya Kevalramani and Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar extended their best wishes and blessings to the athletes.

Association Chairman Chandra Gupta Singh Chauhan stated that this achievement is the result of the hard work of the players, coaches, and the association. Emphasizing the need for a water sports academy in Udaipur, he said that with adequate resources, many more players from the city could represent the country at national and international levels.

Association President Bhagwan Swaroop Vaishnav described it as a historic achievement for Udaipur, saying that having two players from the same city selected for the World Cup team is a remarkable accomplishment. He added that athletes from Udaipur have consistently performed well in national competitions and are now making their mark on the international stage as well.

Players Kanishka Kumawat and Ayush Chaudhary credited their success to the association officials, coaches, and fellow players. They expressed gratitude for the technical guidance and support they received despite limited resources.

Several association officials, coaches, parents, and sports enthusiasts were present on the occasion of the players’ departure. The people of Udaipur are hopeful that both athletes will perform brilliantly at the World Cup and bring pride to the country and the city.
