Seminar Organized on World Environment Day

Udaipur: A seminar was organized on Friday at the Government Animal Husbandry Training Institute to mark the occasion of World Environment Day.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Director of the Institute, Dr. Dwarka Prasad Gupta, emphasized that environmental conservation cannot be achieved through individual or region-specific efforts alone, but requires collective community participation. He stated that rather than merely identifying the causes of environmental pollution and its adverse effects, society must work together to protect the environment before it is too late. He stressed the need to adopt large-scale tree plantation initiatives as an effective step toward environmental preservation.

Dr. Gupta highlighted that animal husbandry is a vital pillar of India’s agricultural and rural economy. Besides providing milk, meat, and other products, the livestock sector also plays a significant role in environmental conservation. He advocated for the promotion of scientific and environmentally sustainable animal husbandry practices to ensure a clean and healthy environment for future generations. He added that animal husbandry and environmental conservation are complementary to each other.

A tree plantation drive was also conducted during the program in the presence of the Chief Guest, Hinal Gupta.

Senior Veterinary Officer Dr. Om Prakash Sahu delivered an insightful presentation on the harmful effects of polythene, describing it as a curse for animals and a serious threat to the environment. He emphasized the need to reduce plastic waste and promote environmentally responsible practices.

Senior Veterinary Officers Dr. Padma Meel and Dr. Mamta Soni also shared their views on environmental protection and sustainable practices.

The seminar served as an important platform to raise awareness about environmental conservation, sustainable livestock management, and the collective responsibility of society in protecting natural resources for future generations.
