Udaipur: A one-day farmer training program on “Advanced Production Technology of Seed Spices” was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Chittorgarh. The program was sponsored by the Directorate of Arecanut and Spices Development, Kozhikode, Kerala.
During the training, Senior Scientist and Head Dr. Ratan Lal Solanki motivated farmers to cultivate seed spices by highlighting their economic importance and the potential for higher income. He also discussed the importance of integrated nutrient management in seed spices, essential plant nutrients, symptoms of nutrient deficiencies in crops, and methods to correct them.
Dr. Abhay Dashora, Assistant Professor and Project In-charge from Rajasthan College of Agriculture Udaipur, explained the objectives of the project and provided detailed information about improved varieties of seed spices.
Co–Project In-charge Dr. B. G. Chhipa spoke about processing and value addition in seed spices, while Dr. Urmila, Co–Project In-charge, explained the technical method of collecting soil samples for soil health testing and emphasized the importance of using organic fertilizers for maintaining soil health.
Technical Assistant Sanjay Kumar Dhakad delivered a detailed lecture on various aspects of improved cultivation practices of fenugreek.
A total of 40 progressive farmers participated in the training program. Agricultural calendars published by the university were distributed to the participants. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Urmila.
