Udaipur: Under the Placement Cell of the College of Community and Applied Sciences, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur, a significant and knowledge-enhancing program was successfully conducted by the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department. The primary objective of the program was to provide students with comprehensive and practical knowledge about startups, entrepreneurship, and various government schemes, enabling them to become self-reliant and explore new avenues in their careers.
Presiding over the program, College Principal Dr. Dhriti Solanki stated that such initiatives play a crucial role in the holistic development of students. She highlighted that these programs not only prepare students for employment but also inspire them to establish their own ventures and become job creators. She encouraged students to move forward with innovation and self-reliance.
The program’s chief speaker, MSME Assistant Director Ganesh M, provided detailed insights into various MSME schemes and policies. He explained that under the two-tier startup support scheme, financial assistance of up to ₹20 lakh can be availed for an idea, while loans up to ₹50 lakh are available to establish a business. He also elaborated on loan schemes available under the Ministry of IT and the Prime Minister Employment Generation Program (PMEGP), including eligibility criteria and application procedures.
He further highlighted that equity-based funding, national and international competitions, and hackathons are playing a key role in promoting startups today. These platforms encourage innovation and provide youth with opportunities to turn their ideas into viable business ventures.
Entrepreneur Ankit Jodhawat shared insights on opportunities, processes, and challenges in the export-import sector. He also guided students on the skills and strategies required to pursue a career in this field.
Additionally, bank official R.K. Sood shared his experiences, referring to India as a “Golden Bird” with abundant resources and opportunities. He motivated students to become job creators through entrepreneurship rather than solely seeking employment, thereby also providing employment opportunities for others.
