UDAIPUR— The Vice Chancellor of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Prof. (Dr.) Pratap Singh Dhakad, on Saturday emphasized quality education, outcome-oriented research and innovation for farmers during an interaction with faculty members at the College of Technology and Engineering (CTAE).
Addressing faculty at the college's conference hall, Dhakad said the university should focus on delivering quality education, promoting practical and result-oriented research, developing low-cost technologies for farmers, strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration, expanding consultancy services, securing sponsored research projects and enhancing skill development programs.
He urged every faculty member to prepare a five-year academic and research roadmap and called for effective utilization of the university's alumni network to strengthen institutional growth.
During an open interaction session, faculty members discussed issues related to the development of the college and the university and shared suggestions with the Vice Chancellor.
CTAE Dean Dr. Sunil Joshi welcomed Dhakad and presented an overview of the college's academic and research achievements. He highlighted the institution's modern laboratories, robust infrastructure, campus placement rate of 75% to 80%, average annual salary packages of ₹600,000 to ₹700,000, highest packages reaching ₹1.6 million, and proposed introduction of new B.Tech. programs.
Heads of various departments also presented their academic accomplishments, research projects, patents, publications, placement records, advanced laboratory facilities and collaborative initiatives with industry partners.
The program was attended by department heads, faculty members, guest faculty and RHTEQIS faculty members. It was coordinated by Prof. (Dr.) Vinod Yadav, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, while Dr. Kalpana Jain, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, conducted the proceedings. Administrative Officer Dr. B.L. Salvi delivered the vote of thanks.
Following the interaction, the Vice Chancellor led a plantation drive under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" (A Tree in Mother's Name) campaign, during which faculty members planted 108 saplings across the college campus.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhakad highlighted the environmental, social and economic importance of trees, saying they play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance, conserving biodiversity, protecting water and soil resources, and ensuring a clean environment. He urged faculty members and staff to not only plant trees but also ensure their long-term care and conservation to create a greener environment for future generations.
