Udaipur:Doctors at Pacific Medical College & Hospital (PMCH) successfully saved the life of a 36-year-old man by performing a timely Intercostal Drainage Tube (ICDT) procedure after his right lung ruptured due to a bull horn injury.
The life-saving procedure was carried out by the Chest & TB Diseases Department under the supervision of Dr. Atul Luhadia, along with doctors Nishchay, Arvind, Govind, Sahil, and Dew, supported by technicians Lokendra and Deepak, and nursing staff Ram Prasad and Balu. Due to their swift and coordinated efforts, the patient’s condition stabilized rapidly.
The injured man, Prem Singh, a resident of Ghassa village in Mavli, was travelling by motorcycle from Mavli to Dabok to drop his sister when he was suddenly hit by a bull at Dabok Chauraha. The bull’s horn pierced his chest, causing his right lung to rupture. As a result, air accumulated in his chest and neck region, leading to severe breathing difficulty and visible balloon-like swelling below the neck.
Initially taken to a local doctor, Prem Singh’s condition deteriorated further. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, his family rushed him to the emergency department of PMCH. After immediate evaluation, Dr. Atul Luhadia and his team diagnosed pneumothorax, a critical condition in which air fills the pleural cavity, causing the lung to collapse partially or completely.
Without delay, the team performed an emergency ICDT procedure to drain the trapped air and provided oxygen therapy. The patient responded quickly to treatment and, after continuous monitoring and supportive care, made a full recovery. He has since been discharged in stable condition.
PMCH Chairman Rahul Agarwal congratulated Dr. Luhadia and his entire team for this medical success, stating that PMCH is equipped with advanced medical infrastructure and experienced specialists who remain fully prepared to handle critical emergencies with precision and speed.
Expressing gratitude, patient Prem Singh thanked the PMCH management and medical team for the free and life-saving treatment. He said that his condition was extremely critical after the accident, and timely intervention by PMCH doctors saved his life.
